When I paint, I don’t think a lot, but more importantly I just paint what inspires me and what I am familiar with.
Today’s modern lifestyle makes me feel helpless. People always seem to be in a hurry, running from one thing to the next, forgetting who they are exactly, and forgetting to enjoy and to taste life. It is as if I am always losing or forgetting something that I want to keep.
My attitude towards my inspiration from classical Chinese elements is a kind of worship. To me, this feeling is intermingled into my blood; it makes me feel warm inside, and is something eternal that I can depend on.
So as to express my inner thoughts, I blend into my paintings traditional oriental elements. When I paint a still-life painting my heart always feels very peaceful, which is a complete contrast to the mutually violating feeling I get between my characters and me when I paint my figurative work.
