Sleeping and Insomnia Series, 8+8-1 Exhibition
To be engaged in making art is not wasting my life

Sleeping is the most ordinary physiological phenomenon of all humans and animals. I am  fond of the posture of people sleeping. I stay close to them and observe the person up and down not wanting to disturb them, as they do not wish to disturb me. I hold my easel very near. When I paint I work better when the air around me is still. I try to look at their dreams, to dissolve them completely into my painting. Insomnia is a common phenomenon for those who have too many things lingering in their minds. Now the sleepless people are becoming more numerous and I too am often afflicted. When the first light of morning penetrates my sleepless eyelids, I feel anxious and depressed. May all people sleep well and be rid of worrying. I hope that animals are not sleepless through the night like man too.
