In his second solo at the Schoeni Art Gallery, Zhu Yi Yong will present 20 of his meticulously painted oil paintings which he created over the past 4 years.
Zhu Yi Yong was born in Chongqing in 1957 and graduated from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Art in 1982. After graduation, he started teaching there and is now an associate professor.
Zhu Yi Yong has been in many exhibitions including The Sixth National Art Exhibition and the French Spring Salon Painting Exhibition in 1983; Chinese Contemporary Oil Painting Exhibition in New York in 1987; Chinese Outstanding Works Oil Painting Exhibition in Japan in 1991; a solo exhibition at Xin Mei Gallery, Taiwan in 1992; Art Singapore 2001 and various group exhibitions at the Schoeni Art Gallery.
The work of Zhu Yi Yong has been sold to collectors around the world and Village Inn, which he painted in 1984 is in the collection of the Chinese National Museum of Art in Beijing.
Zhu Yi Yong's love of Chinese culture is apparent in the dimly-lit imperial courtyards and the embroidered dresses of the classical women depicted in his paintings. The artist is renowned for his masterful handling of light and his delicate brushstrokes.
