Design Dialogue: Hong Kong Culture 2013
Organised by Hong Kong Design Institute, this is a series of seminars between 24 January and 21 June 2013, where 11 of Hong Kong’s best-known designers in architecture, graphic and product design, image styling and fashion will speak about their philosophy of design and the city of Hong Kong defines their work.
The next seminar will be on 22 February where Alan Chan from Alan Chan Design Company will speak on the topic of Revisiting “Oriental Passion Western Harmony”. Click here

Further to the much-acclaimed exhibition Phantom Metropolis in 2011, we are delighted to work with Yang Yongliang on his second solo exhibition with the gallery this April, entitled Moonlit Metropolis. The exhibition opening will be held on Thursday, 18 April 2013, coinciding with the Hong Kong ArtWalk 2013. This show will be comprised of some of the artist’s latest works in which he continues to reflect on the effects of urbanisation and modernisation in modern China. Click here

Song Dong: 36 Calendars
Exhibition continues: 22 January – 8 February 2013
Venue: ArtisTree, 1/F Cornwall House, 979 King’s Road, Quarry Bay
Co-presented by Asia Art Archive and Mobile M+, WKCDA, this exhibition shows the new work of Song Dong that consists of 36 hand drawn calendars documenting the last 36 years of history (1978-2013). On 21 January, 432 members of the public were invited to edit, add and change the calendars according to their own memories. The final work is now available at ArtisTree. Click here

Workshop on Yang Yongliang on Saturday, 26 January marked the end of our 20th anniversary education programme. In this workshop, participants reinterpreted “Shan Shui Hua” or traditional Chinese landscape painting with images of buildings and other modern urban elements.

A showcase of 12 renowned and award-winning local designers, whose various industry backgrounds come from lighting, architectures/interior, jewelry, product, fashion and automobile, this exhibition at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center is showing from 31 January to 31 March 2013. There will be docent-led tour that begins on 1 February 2013. Imminent Domain Exhibition Lecture Series will be held on 31 January between 18.00 and 20.00, free admission and registration required. Both workshops on Hai Bo (5 Janurary) and by Hung Keung (12 Janurary) were successful, especially Hung Keung’s workshop that was thoroughly enjoyed by both the artist and the participants.

Catered for aged 8-12, participants will learn the honeycomb paper craft in Li Hongbo’s style
26 January 2013, 11.00: Yang Yongliang’s Modern Interpretation of “Shanshui”
Catered for aged 6/+, using images of buildings and other urban elements, participants are to create their own works in the artist’s fashion.
